Meeting cattle breeders
Visit of the Chey cattle farm, in Niort
We would like to thank Cécile Brassac, a cattle breeder of Limousine cows at the GAEC Rimbault Brassac. The farm breeds around one hundred cows over the year, registered in the herd book. A passionate cattle breeder, Cécile loves her occupation: ever since her childhood she dreamt of raising her animals, from their birth, a dream which turned into reality in 2018. Progress in cattle breeding equipment opened up the profession to women: 'All the restraining systems available today makes it easier, and I can tend to my tasks.' A mother of two, she manages her time freely, drives her children to school every day, and they also spend time with her and her animals. She is particularly keen on good breeding practises, and her farm was granted the appropriate certification: 'We are keen to show how much we value animal welfare.' The farm fitted its calf pens with caesarean gates for emergency interventions. 'Fitting the gates relieves both us and the animals.'
A meeting with two ewe breeders
At GAEC Goineau in Yzernay, in the Maine-et-Loire district, Michaël and Marian opened the door of their new building constructed to breed 450 ewes. The line fitted with 52 Headlocks is superb. The sheepfold is superelevated with respect to the animals: this offers a better top view, over the entire stall and inside the calf pens. Originally from a family of cattle breeders, they already knew our reliable products and presented their project at the Breeder's summit in Cournon-d’Auvergne.

The Campus des Sicaudières school in Bressuire offers education in agriculture, environment and food, with an application farm for hands-on experience, supporting professional integration within a green and well-equipped environment.
We were lucky enough to be welcomed in the sheepfold, equipped by JOURDAIN, hosting 250 ewes. Our discussions with Nicolas Boissinot, this farm's manager, were particularly enlightening. We also wanted to report the enthusiasm and passion shown by Céline and Manon, students in animal production degree (BTS), who were proud to speak of their aspiration to grow in the livestock farming trade.
